Jena Wilson

Our super-calm, versatile Head of Digital, Jena, is endlessly creative and deeply analytical, with extensive experience across various marketing roles both inhouse at Flourish and through agency. Jena understands what’s needed for clients across the communications spectrum, and doesn’t look at digital in isolation, but rather as a means to create wider, targeted impact and support the suite of activity. She is skilled in tone of voice, industry difference, and understanding where target audiences are likely to be most responsive and to what. After qualifying as a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Marketing in 2013, from Glasgow Caledonian University, Jena quickly became Google Analytics and AdWords Certified and moved into the world of digital, successfully delivering digital marketing strategy and support to Abelio Event Connect, and Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland.
Leading our digital activity, for clients and for Flourish’s own marketing, Jena works closely with our client account management team with the aim of maximising client impact. With strategic advice and guidance across our client accounts, Jena provides reassuring oversight over digital activity to ensure delivery is as innovative as possible, cost effective and delightfully effective. Always looking for improvements for clients, and us, staying ahead of the technological shenanigans, Jena heads-up our training in the digital realm and identifies opportunities for standardising processes and adding value. From social media, website development, maintenance and hosting, to SEO, PPC and paid ads, Jena ensures our offer is fully aligned and hitting those client goals with a bang.
Get to know us…
Tell us about the part of your job which makes your soul happy – that you enjoy more than anything else?
Of course, as my role suggests, I love digital! I love that it combines both creative and analytical thinking, and that you can see clear results based on your activity. I also love a good report with graphs and percentages, ha-ha!
If you weren’t in the career you are and could choose to be doing anything you like, what would your dream job be?
My back-up plan was a marine biologist, so just slightly different to digital marketing.
On the rainiest of days when you want to click your fingers and be somewhere else, where is the destination you’d head to?
I’ve always wanted to visit Japan. However, as I have never been, I wouldn’t want to fully commit to that answer! My alternative would be a cosy log cabin up in the highlands, with an open fire and a glass of wine, perfect for a rainy day.
If we met you in real life, or we end up chatting on LinkedIn, and we run out of work-related conversation, what should we chat to you about?
Realistically, as sad as it may sound, it would probably be my kids. Having twin toddlers pretty much consumes the majority of my free time at the moment. However, pre-kids, it would likely be food, travel… oh and I do love a bit of a topical debate.
Tell me your ideal Saturday – from morning to evening?
My Saturday would start with a nice long lie-in followed by a brunch, a visit to the beach or park in the afternoon with my girls to run around in and explore. Then a function party, with some good cheesy music.
If your life could have a soundtrack what would be your song?
Oh, this is a hard one. I think it would vary depending on my day. My favourite songs are Dancing in the moonlight by Toploader, and Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra, if those count.
